Yongsan IDB Masterplan, the Dream Hub for Seoul, Korea

Foster and Partners have designed the Yongsan IDB Masterplan, a dream hub to transform the Seoul, Korea from a huge railway goods yard into an extraordinary metropolitan center. The design spot has been envisioned to be easily accessible via three architectural arcs, an icon derived from the Taoist idea of ying and yang. The key point of the design is the landmark tower collection which is made of three spiraling towers known as the ‘helixia’, designed to give the project a new focus and connect three varied areas together, the river han, the yongsan staion and the yongsan electronics district, a place where visitors can enjoy a variety of places like winding ramps and multitude connecting leveled lifts. With the twisting surroundings, helixia, the center of electricity and interaction will become a new global destination.

Wearable X Torsion Cell Phone Concept

The X Torsion cell phone concept has been especially designed for extreme sport athletes that is very much purposeful and at the same time, stylish as well. This concept phone contains two parts, A TPE elastomer cover, available in different colors and can be washed after use, that stretches to fit almost any size of forearm, and another one is the keyboard and display, that is also joined with TPE, allowing free flexion of the cell. The innovation of this design allows flexibility to the athletes to get the readings of their consumed calories through sensors and contains stopwatch and altimeter aside from the functions of a standard cell phone.

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Lean, mean and sometimes even green, concept motorcycles often make us want to head out on the highway and look for adventure. These bikes may not be quite ready to tear up the road as we zoom into the wind, but we wish they would move from concept to reality very soon! As we take a look at concept motorcycles, here are 20 of the most bad-ass bikes to hope for in 2010.

Lamborbiker Inspired by Lamborghini

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Flavio Adriani took his inspiration from two great names in invention, engineering and design, Nikola Tesla and Ferrucio Lamborghini. Flavio has created some stunning motorcycles from his concept. We want this bad boy to become reality soon!

Nuclear Fusion Motorbike 2050

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Romain Herment has a motorcycle concept that uses nuclear energy as a power source. He calls it “Motorbike 2050 version 2.” This futuristic bike uses two inexhaustible natural elements, deuterium and tritium, allowing a sustainable ride in the days to come. The motorbike consumes 1 liter of water for a 100 km drive.

Mad Max Aitu Motorbike

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

The Aitu seems to be rough and rowdy, ready for Mad Max to take it for a spin. Designer Renato Gschwend is hoping to attract adventurous souls who want to make heads turn if this bike ever hits the street. It features a powerful V-twin 1800cc engine and non-silent exhausts to ensure you’re heard roaring down the highway.

Electric Motorbike: ZEVS

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Three designers Bernhard Ranner, Anders August Kittilsen and Rudolf Stefanich, worked to make ZEVS, “The first electric motorcycle for the “real biker.” It’s designed for “real men” and dusty roads, in the spirit of Harley Davidson, Custom Chopper culture and the good old Route 66 romance.

Carbon Fiber For Fast, Light Cruise

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designed by Julian Silva, this concept motorcycle is covered in carbon fiber for a fast and light ride. The framework is made of aluminum and wrapped with carbon fiber panels that store the mechanical systems. This motorbike was designed to encapsulate the pilot´s arms, legs and back through the secondary red panels and to keep the driver safe in case of a fall.

Super Green Super Dangerous Super Bike

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer Pierre Yohanes Lubis thinks if you would like a very fast, very dangerous, very tiny motorcycle, then the Halbo might be for you. If it gets beyond concept and hits the main highway, let’s just hope you don’t hit the pavement too because it could be much worse than road rash. However, it does have a BMW stamp on it and is electric powered.

Super Skinny Swordfish & Stalker

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer Alexander Kotlyarevsky peered into the future and then created both these concept motorcycles. He molded their alloy frames into a minimalistic design. The sleek silver hotrod is called Swordfish while the metallic pink bike is called Stalker. This futuristic duo is like his and hers for a rebel ride.

Harley Davidson Circa 2020

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Will the Harley Davidson Hog of the future resembles this beast? Designer Miguel Cotto believes so. The large 883cc engine is coupled with a Tron-like body. The wheel hubs are actually giant bearings.

STRIDER – Super Hero Motorcycle Concept

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer David Gonçalves has created more than one futuristic motorcycle. This project, however, started with a request from one of his clients who needed a bike for a cartoon superhero. A female superhero at that. Inspiration struck him and the concept of Strider was born.

Sleek Sci-Fi Superbikes

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer Matt Williams created a superbike called KTM Motorbike. Vroom must have been the mantra playing while creativity blossomed. KTM looks ready to leap forward, looks fast even when parked. The V-twin engine is hidden within the frame. Its hub-center steering system provides a more usable steering angle than telescopic forks while the center is a more stable and predictable ride.

Icare Bike Concept

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Conceptualized by Enzyme Design, the Icare motorcycle is meant to be the Aston Martin of the two-wheeled world with a six-cyclinder 1.8 Honda engine. It looks like a muscle motorcycle of the future, ready to rip up the road and outrace the cops in hot pursuit.

Jaguar M-Cycle

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

This roaring jaguar is the result of interior designer Lee J. Rowland teaming up with motorbike fanatic Barend Hemmes. Jaguar concept motorcycle has only been taken up to speeds of 55 mph, but you better believe heads turn as fellow bikers drool. The big cat is powered by 1200cc Harley-Davidson V-twin engine. The shape of this sleek cat is not suitable for anyone under 6 feet, meant to have feet propped far up front on the pedals as a real drag-style riding machine.

The Bull Concept

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer Lee J. Rowland was struck again with inspiration after the Jaguar and tackled this shiny bull. He had to think hard and long to figure out how to get the bull’s horns positioned on this bike. Red, loud, and shiny, the Bull concept motorcycle will surely call to some bike lover to be made into a reality.

Ghost & Devil Motorcycle Concepts

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

What does a ghost and devil have in common? They’ve been turned into slick speed machines, or at least concept motorcycles. Designer Muhammad Imran designed Ghost while keeping a flying falcon in mind. He was also inspired by the bike tribute of “Ghost Rider.” Ghost calls out to the young and reckless and will hopefully offer fantastic future fun to those who really have a need for speed. Designer Robert Liddell aimed to give his motorcycle features fitting for the name Devil Bike. He created it with V-twin engine, so this shiny black bike will fit the personality of the young with a passion for speed and style.

2015 Honda CB 750

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer Igor Chak came up with this concept bike, 2015 Honda CB 750. The brains of the bike is the on-board computer that can be controlled through a 5” OLED multi-touch display positioned right on the fuel tank. There are 3 menus: GPS, drive modes, and diagnostics mode. CB 750 gets its power from a four-cylinder liquid hydrogen engine. Ready, set, rocket outta here!

Speed Racing Motorcycle Inspired By Aliens

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer Daniel Bailey was inspired by two things, making them clear in his concept motorcycle. Speed and the alien characters in “Alien.” This speed racing bike is rugged yet sleek. The design is aerodynamic and based on Kawasaki ninjas stats (height, wheel base etc…), so will future road ninjas or aliens be seen riding it?

Magic Tricycle

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Iranian designer Javad created the Magic Tricycle to drive on all three wheels for normal highway use, but can rotate around a longitudinal axis running from the front to the rear right wheel with the left wheel elevated into the air so the vehicle can be ridden as a motorcycle in more congested areas. To facilitate this, the seats rotate to keep the occupants sitting upright and the airborne wheel opens up blades which work like a helicopter tail propeller to aid stability.

Ferrari V4 Superbike Concept

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Designer Amir Glinik conceptualized this Ferrari V4 superbike. He created his design around the theoretical application of the Ferrari Enzo’s V12 engine, chopped down to four cylinders and modified to drive in a motorcycle frame. Hopefully this hot puppy will be hitting the highway soon. It’s lean and mean.

Dodge Tomahawk Concept Motorcycle

Concept Motorcycles: 20 Bad Ass Bikes To Hope For In 2010

Born to be wild? Get your motor runnin’ and head out on the highway. The Tomahawk is a Viper V-10 based motorcycle, a 500 horsepower engine with four wheels beneath it. It practically breathes fire. Chrysler sold nine replicas through Neiman Marcus for $555,000 each. If the price tag didn’t feel like a punch in your solar plexus, then here’s the evil part: Lookin’ for adventure? Well these motorcycles cannot be driven on public roads.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

Modern design is aerodynamic, functional, and aesthetically pleasing. Old designs seem blocky and industrial, bulky and ill suited for their function, so they’re discarded. Just as taste and aesthetics consistently change, so do the requirements of survival. Animals have gone from being small and reptilian to large and furry, to gigantic and reptilian, on and on, and back in forth, in a cycle that left many creatures in the dust. Here are 12 of the most intriguing animal lines to hit a dead end.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via fossil treasures, nps, science blogs)

Nicknamed “Hell Pigs” or “Terminator Pigs,” Entelodonts terrorized the forests and plains for upwards of 20 million years. Terminator Pigs thrived on live prey, but they wouldn’t sneer at a rotting carcass or tubers and vegetation. These hogs were like mini bulldozers, heavy and powerful, weighing over 9,000 pounds each.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via wild deer ireland, zh1yong, nature, lilian nattel)

The Irish Elk went extinct nearly 5,000 years ago, and carried the distinction of having the widest antlers of any known species. At a whopping 12 feet wide, their antlers were an intimidating feature that required a powerful body as a frame. They stood 7 feet tall at the shoulders, and some experts belief their extinction was a result of antlers grown out of control; like the modern bodybuilder, their form was attractive to females, but ill suited for the requirements of everyday living.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via 50birds, cameron, dumbdave, big game)

An 18 foot tall ancestor of the rhinoceros, Baluchitherium was an incredibly massive creature with pillars for legs. Its entire existence revolved around eating leaves with its 4 foot long head. Like a crane designed to move a chair, it was ridiculously overbuilt. Nature agreed, and the Baluchitherium went extinct nearly 20 million years ago.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via wikimedia, ceibal, skelemitz, science blogs)

Glyptodons were the forerunners of the modern armadillo; equally armored, but much, much larger. About the size of a small car, these lumbering beasts would mill around the banks of lakes and rivers munching on roots and small plants. They were able to swing their heavy, bony, tail in defense, but their main protection was the thickness of their all-encompassing shells.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via bristol, sharkfriends, cracked, greatsouth)

Megalodon would swallow a great white shark like we devour salmon. This nightmare was around 60 feet long, and its maw contained nearly 300, 7 inch long teeth. Its fearsome mouth was intimidating enough, without the fact that it weighed in at a horrendous 100 tons. This was the true king of the sea.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via avph, chinese unicorn, carnivora, victor rivas)

Elasmotherium is an ancestor of the rhinoceros, crowned with a 2 meter long horn, and covered in a layer of thick fur. Despite their size and weight, they were able to gallop at high speed. These animals were herbivores, but had no issue dealing out damage with their piercing horn.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via mark witton, uni graz, lilien sternus, pterosaurs)

Hatzegopteryx was a pterosaur (winged lizard), with a wingspan of 12 meters. It soared over the landscape looking for opportunities to use its 2 meter long beak to scoop up anything out in the open. If these gliding beasts existed today, they would snatch a grown adult like the modern heron scoops up a fish.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via pikaia, dull neon, petermaas, quagga project)

The quagga was a relative of the zebra that had the appearance of a mix between a zebra and a horse. The species died out within the past 100 years, but in an attempt to correct the errors of our past, the Quagga Project is attempting to recreate the species through an intense breeding program. The last photo is the most recent descendant of the new quagga line.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via monkey fur, robot attack, gamespot, louder funier)

The modern day sloth is like a lethargic monkey, so slow in movement that they commonly grow moss across their backs. This lack of speed is a new development. The sloth used to be a giant, able to move from plant to plant on four enormous limbs, and cradle an entire tree in its arms. While the modern day sloth relies on its position high in the treetops for protection, its ancient cousin relied solely on its gigantic, 17 foot high frame.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via luisrey, uchicago, prehistoric illustrated, el mundo en fotos)

Suchomimus was a crocodile-like creature that haunted Africa 112 million years ago. Few examples of this lithe and lengthy monster have been found, but each specimen has been remarkably complete, allowing scientists to accurately estimate a full adult length measuring in at an incredible 40 feet.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via olenski, suddenlaunch3, saysoon, fairservicenz)

The Therizinosaurus hefted 8 foot long forelegs with claws nearly 4 feet long. It carried an impressive arsenal considering its only source of food was vegetable matter. Scientists are split as to whether it was more bird-like or reptilian in appearance, but its fantastic size is undeniable.

Dead But Not Forgotten: 12 Incredible Creatures That Went Extinct

(Images via lahaiseslair, cryptomundo, wikimedia, kidcyber)

The Thylacine, nicknamed the “Tasmanian Tiger,” disappeared within the past 100 years. It held the distinction of being the largest carnivorous marsupial. Despite being classified as extinct, several sightings are reported every year… though none of them have been proven.

Netching Is The New Word By TMD Crew

On December 31, 2009, in 03 - Works Of Art, by admin

I just read a really interesting post about the TMD crew’s new form of graff via RT’s blog. I will give you a quote of it…”Allow me to explain the term ‘Netching’. You know how sometimes an in-joke can just get taken too far and spawn a whole set of slang? That’s how NETCH came about. Pretty much it is an abbreviation of ‘Next Echelon’. There was a lot of joking around at some of our walls about taking things to the highest level possible in regards to scale, detail and concept. It was half-joking around but ended up motivating a small movement in NZ that has really evolved our approach to painting entirely.”

Netching Is The New Word By TMD Crew

Deus, Askew and Berst. August 2009

“The idea was to bring a combination of each others styles into each piece by putting up our own first outlines but working in sections across both pieces. The precursor to this approach is definitely the signature ‘Style Smashing’ of MSK and AWR pieces by Tyke, Ewok, Revok and Rime to name a few. It is also a variation of the ethos behind ‘The Exchange‘ Project. Berst and I worked in total unison on each piece bringing our own illustrative elements across both names and attempting to think as different as possible about every element painted.”
