We’ve all heard of urban art, but this is rural art. Art that takes place in farm fields of rice paddy’s in Japan. The Japanese Rice Paddy Art Festival is a fairly low-key art festival that has submissions from all over Japan to showcase a large crop of rice paddy designs. Farmers just design these for themselves and send the pictures in, where there is a small following for this type of art in Japan. Designed by carefully organizing colours of rice plants to create a large scale picture is no easy task, but the Japanese have been doing things for decades that have fascinated the Western Hemisphere.
